PROBUS is a Retired Professional and Business Men’s Club where those who have had a measure of responsibility in such fields as commerce, education, industry and government get together in their retirement in a social environment.
Probus clubs are autonomous and their activities vary considerably. The Probus Club of St. Austell is one of the oldest having been founded in 1970. It has over fifty members most of whom are active and meets on the first Wednesday in each month at the Britannia Inn for a lunch followed by a short presentation by a guest speaker.
Occasional additional events are organised including ladies’ luncheons and trips out. Members’ costs of belonging are kept to a minimum although the Club does make a contribution to guest speakers’ nominated charities.
Although membership is by invitation we welcome approaches from anyone who meets the criteria. Just drop us an email on the Contact Form or call the Secretary and we will arrange for a member of the Committee to meet up with you.
Our original plans to celebrate our Golden Anniversary were thwarted by covid. However, better late than never, it is now scheduled for Wednesday 6th July at The Britannia Inn when our partners are invited to join us and The Mayor of St. Austell Councillor Andrea Lanxon will be a guest of honour. Renowned Local pianist Roger Miners will entertain us.
The specially designed menu is on the menu page.
